We're back to showcase another long-term client of the Audacious Athlete team! Ashley has been working with Coach Chanel for 68 weeks .
Ashley linked up with coach Chanel initially in a health phase where the goal was to increase her baseline calories which were around 1600 & training 5x/wk. After reviewing her training and other initial bio markers, Chanel knew the first step was to increase calories and improve training performance & recovery.
Ashley travels a great deal for work & with that come inherent challenges to hitting macros ;but together, with strategic use of untracked meals and her commitment to the plan - they have done some amazing body recomp in almost a year and a half. Ashley executed her first deficit phase with Chanel from WK 31-43 for 12 weeks her first 12WK deficit this week and did bring calories down to where she was when she joined our roster, but now she’s lost weight at this calorie amount. Total weight lost over the 43 weeks is 12lbs and total loss in the deficit has been 7 lbs and her physique showcases the more prominent muscle tissue and far more total body fat lost!
Chanel & Ashley are equally as excited for this next phase where she is working to find her true surplus calories to now truly take a run for increased lean muscle tissue gained.
First off, how’d you find the Audacious Athletes team and your coach?
I first found Chanel while listening to a Mike Matthews Podcast she was on which led me to her IG and the Audacious Athletes. Chanel’s knowledge and experience were displayed on the podcast and I resonated with the topic and how she explained things.
What prompted you to seek out coaching initially?
I was lacking with my knowledge of nutrition and fueling my body correctly in order to accomplish my goals and simply make any progress. I wanted a coach who would take me as a person and my lifestyle into account and to truly have personalized coaching, not just some cookie-cutter plan handed over, and Chanel is NOT that.
Since being a client, what goals have you been able to accomplish?
Where to begin…There are so many!I discovered my relationship with food wasn’t as healthy (in the beginning) as I thought it was. I have learned the importance of pre/post workout meals, rest and recovery, quality sleep and proper hydration to include sodium intake. I have gained so much knowledge about my own body and truly know my own body now; learning how to enter a deficit phase and reverse out, the importance of my maintenance phase. I’m 100% stronger and healthier ALL the way around - mentally, physical, and emotionally. The list could go on and on… there are so many more that have also reached all aspects of my life.
What do you enjoy most about your relationship with your coach?
Again, too many to list them all, but here’s a snapshot… COMPLETE trust in her and the ability and comfort to be 100% honest with her. The fact that we genuinely are a TEAM. Chanel TEACHES the reasons behind her changes each week and provides guidance/suggestions with implementing new things, and I learn something new EVERY single week from her, even after 67+ weeks working together. She holds you accountable, supports you, and is understanding when life throws curveballs all while showing grace.
If someone was on the fence about becoming an Audacious Athlete client, what advice or guidance would you give them?
UMMMM, just do it! Don’t wait. The investment into yourself is the greatest one you can make and you will learn more than you even thought possible – not only about training and nutrition but also about yourself.
