Long-term Client Interview: Brittany R.

It's time to hear (and see) from another long-term client of the Audacious Athlete team, specifically a client from Coach Brittany's roster.

Brittany R. has been an on and off, long-term client with Coach B since May 2020. Her initial goals when she joined the team were to improve her body composition and to develop an improved relationship with food. Check out what Brittany R. has to say about her time as a client so far...

First off, how’d you find the Audacious Athletes team and your coach?

I had followed Chanel on IG for years as fitness inspo (I think I still have one of her earlyyyy shoulder workouts saved on my Instagram haha).

What prompted you to seek out coaching initially?

When COVID hit and the gyms shut down, I knew I needed to make a change in my fitness routine. I'd been lifting for a few years, but felt like I was at a plateau. The COVID world made me worry I'd backtrack completely so a coach seemed like the most rational choice!

Since being a client, what goals have you been able to accomplish?

So many! My main goal coming into Audacious Athletes was to learn to have a better relationship with myself and food. Since going through inpatient treatment for anorexia in 2006, I've always used food and the gym as a way to punish myself. Never in my life would I have imagined going through both fat loss and bulk periods, let alone healthily handle increased food, weight, and body shifts. Not every day is perfect, but my mindset around food and fitness has completely shifted (positively) in these last 3 years more than I ever imagined.

What do you enjoy most about your relationship with your coach?

Coach B is a rock. Not only does she care about my progress as an athlete, but she prioritizes my mental and emotional health as well. She pushes me in the right ways, helps me reframe my mindset (especially when I'm being hard on myself), and has my best interest at heart. The workouts she has programmed for me have helped me find new confidence at the gym, trying things I'd avoided when I was working out alone. Devil's Press? Trap bar deadlifts? Not in my life would I have done those without Coach B's guidance. The accountability and expertise she provides PLUS the genuine care for me as a person makes me certain she's the perfect coach for me!

If someone was on the fence about becoming an Audacious Athlete client, what advice or guidance would you give them?

Invest in yourself! You can do hard things. You'll never regret taking the step to be an AA client.

Together, they have gone through multiple cycles of prioritizing fat loss, followed by a reverse diet where coasting at her maintenance caloric range and lean tissue growth become the priority. Brittany R. has accomplished every goal she initially set, all while continuing to travel, take solo hiking trips in various states, intermittently take a more intuitive dietary approach and overcome a few extremely tough life challenges, only come out stronger and more sure of herself.
